DAY 8

For todays’ sunrise session, we’ll have to wake up earlier, in order to get to Fushimi Inari well before dawn. This way, we’ll be able to place at the best possible spots, in order to get the best possible pictures as the sun rises. This will give us better photo opportunities, since this is a very touristic and crowded location.

We will be able to enjoy its more than 10,000 “torii”, or ‘sacred gates’, traditional Japanese arches which will be an amazing setting to get incredible images. Given the possibilities of the place, we’ll stay for several hours in the area, maximizing our chances of getting extraordinary pictures.

viaje fotografico japon

DAY 9

We’ll wake up very early again today, to get to the Arashiyama bamboo forest for sunrise. Same as the previous day, we’ll try to get to the location before the crowds arrive, in order to get the best spots for photography. Therefore, well try to be ready when the first rays of daylight appear into the woods. This will be surely one of our favorite locations of the trip.

After this session, we’ll photograph the nearby Okochi Denjiro gardens, as well as the Tenryuji and Nonomiya Temples. All of these marvelous locations will be in the same area, so we will spend the whole morning exploring and photographing it.

Then we will have lunch, before heading to another traditional Kyoto’s district, to photograph its typical houses and shops. After this, we’ll photograph the famous Golden Temple, another fantastic location for photography. We’ll keep in the area for sunset, photographing this amazing building with the last rays of daylight.

Finally, we’ll photograph the Dōtonbori neon lights at night, before getting back to our accommodation.

DAY 11

We’ll have a longer rest this morning, after the incredibly busy previous days. After breakfast, we’ll head to Himeji, where we’ll photograph the precious Koko-en Garden, as well as the nearby Himeji Castle. This impressive castle and its surroundings will bring us, one more time, extraordinary photography possibilities.

After spending the rest of the day in the area, capturing the sunset by the castle, we’ll drive back to our accommodation in Osaka to sleep.

viaje fotografico japon

DAY 12

Today, we’ll wake up early to visit Nara, a beautiful traditional Japanese town, famous for the deer around its streets. Apart from its traditional architecture, we’ll photograph the Kofukuji and Horyuji Temples there.

Kofukuji Temple was moved here from Kyoto, more than 1,000 years ago, while Horyuji is the oldest wooden temple on Earth. Therefore, with such beautiful subjects, it will be really easy getting fabulous pictures in the area.

After lunch, we will visit the Yoshino Mount area, from which we will capture some of the most amazing views from the trip. From here, we’ll have a wonderful perspective of the fall colors of the trees, with the snowy Nara peaks in the background. We’ll stay here for sunset, hoping to get a beautifully colored sky.

After our session, we’ll drive to Koyasan area, where we will spend the next night. Initially, we were planning to stay in a shukubo, a Buddhist temple, together with the monks. This would be, for sure, a pretty amazing experience, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we feel it would be safer to stay at a hotel, and then visiting the monks in the morning.

viaje fotografico japon

DAY 13

We’ll wake up early to photograph sunrise from Koyasan. In case it was possible, we would also visit the monks to photograph them while they are praying.

During most part of the day, we’ll stay in the area around Mount Koya, photographing several of the monuments and temples located here. Between them, some of the most spectacular ones are Danjo Garan Kondo, Miedo, Fudodo, and Konpon Daito and Toto Pagodas.

Afterwards, we’ll begin our drive North, stopping to sleep at Nagoya.

viaje fotografico Japon

DAY 14

Today, we’ll wake up early to visit the fabulous Kiso Valley for sunrise. Here, we’ll visit the beautiful Magome village, from where we’ll be able to hike a short part of the old Nakasendo Way, and antique route which joined Edo (Tokio) and Kioto. Magome and, specially Tsumago, the second village we will visit, were the main resting points during the route. However, due to the industrialization, the route was not used anymore. That’s the reason why we’ll be still able to enjoy the most traditional Japan here.

If we have still enough energies, we’ll hike the route between these two villages. During this way, we’ll be able to photograph lovely mountain landscapes, falls, and creeks. Besides this, we would like to highlight the great photo possibilities that we’ll find in the villages. This will be a great moment to capture the traditional Japanese architecture.

If the hike is not possible, we will drive to some of these villages, being still able to photograph its houses and buildings.

Finally, we will keep our way to Tokyo. Depending on time, we could have a last photography session by Mount Fuji, before getting to our accommodation in Tokyo to sleep.

DAY 15

We’ll wake up early to head to Narita International Airport, where this Japan Photo Tour will come to an end.

The tour leaders, photograper guides, other guides and/or the travel agency and organizers of the tour, reserve always the right to do any kind of changes to the itinerary and the tour, both before and during the trip.

In this sense, it will be up to the photographer/s guide/s or to the travel agency, the decision of changing any of the programmed activities, places to visit, and shooting sessions for each day, depending on factors as weather, security or light conditions, but not limited to these. We will always be in search of the best possible experiences and moments of light for the customers of this trip. However, sometimes we may decide to change plans depending on some factors. The program may also be changed in case of emergency, injury of illness of any of the participants or main photographers.

At the same time, both the photographers and the travel agency reserves the right of changing the tour leader/s, as well as the photographer/s guide/s, in case it’s necessary. Some of the reasons might include injuries, illness or hospitalization, severe health problems, accidents, (both of themselves as well as first grade relatives too), etc. In those cases, the agency will bring another photographer able to guide the group in the same destination.

The remaining balance will be due 60 days prior to the trip. If one client doesn’t make effective any of the expected payments in the deadline, the organizers has the right to cancel the contract with that participant, without any refund, as the terms previously seen. The features that make up the combined travel contract come from the information given to the client in the brochure or program, as well as from the indications regarding this information that could have been given when confirming the reservation.

Cancelations

In case the agency doesn’t complete the minimum group needed to confirm the trip, customers will have the choice between doing the trip paying an extra supplement, or being issued a full refund.

If the travel agency needs to cancel the trip, for any reason, customers will get a 100% refund of the cost of the photo tour.

However if the client doesn’t show or cancels the trip, the following cancellation policies will be applied:

– Less than 60 days prior to the trip: $600.

Once the reservation is done by the client, and the services and their prices are confirmed by us, these prices only could be revised until 20 calendar days prior to the departure dates, only in case there are variations in the transportation costs (including the fuel prices), in accommodations, in rates and taxes referring to certain services (such as landing, boarding in ports and airports), or in monetary exchange rates applied to the trip.

RECOMMENDED PHOTO GEAR

This is just a list of the ideal gear for a trip like this. However, there is no need at all to have or bring all this gear. You can join the trip using any kind of camera, or even a smartphone!

Camera

DSLR or MIRRORLESS CAMERA RECOMMENDED

We recommend you to bring a DSLR or Mirrorless system camera with interchangeable lenses, but you can join the photo tour bringing any kind of camera, including compact ones, or even a smartphone.

Wide Angle Lens

For example, a 14-24mm or a 16-35mm

A wide angle lens will be really useful to capture the impressive landscapes and cityscapes in Japan. It’s also interesting that it’s a fast lens (f/2’8 or faster), for the night photography sessions.

Standard Zoom

For example, a 24-70MM

An standard zoom, like a 24-70mm, or a 24-105mm, will be probably the most important lens for a trip like this. With that focal length range, you will be able to capture a great variety of the scenes we’ll find.

TELEPHOTO LENS

FOR EXAMPLE, A 70-200MM

If you already own a lens like a 70-200mm, and you don’t care about the weight or the space, we recommend you bringing it to the trip. It might be useful to capture some distant sceneries and for social photography.

FAST LENS FOR PORTRAITS

FOR EXAMPLE, A 85MM 1'4 OR A 50MM 1'4

A lens like a 85mm 1’4 or a 50mm 1’4 would be perfect for getting amazing portraits with fabulous bokeh. However, since this is not a photo tour mainly focused in portraits, they are not essential at all.

TRIPOD

A STURDY TRIPOD

A tripod will be needed for our low light photography sessions, such as the sunrise, sunset and night photography ones. We recommend you bringing a really sturdy one, so it’s not easily moved by the wind.

PHOTOGRAPHY FILTERS

ND, GRADUATED AND POLARIZER FILTERS

We recommend you bringing ND filters for long exposure photography, as well as graduated ND filter for sunrises and sunsets. A polarizer filter will be very useful too, to add saturation or avoid reflections.

REMOTE CONTROLLER

REMOTE CONTROLLER OR INTERVALOMETER

Bringing a remote or an intervalometer will be a great idea, because they will be very useful in low light sessions, avoiding the need to touch the camera, and therefore minimizing the risk of moved images.

BATTERIES

Enough spare batteries

Bringing enough extra batteries is essential for a photo tour like this. We will be taking lots of pictures every single day, so you should bring enough batteries to avoid running out of energies.

MEMORY CARDS

ENOUGH MEMORY CARDS

We also recommend you bringing enough memory cards so you can store all the pictures you will take during the trip, or even doing security copies. Given their low price, it’s better to carry extra cards.

During this Iceland Photo Tour, we’ll be normally staying in 3 or 4 star hotel. Each traveller will be staying in a double twin shared room, shared with another participant of the tour. Rooms will always include a private bath. However, it’s possible that, for our night in Koyasan, we stayed at a Buddhist temple, with the monks, to bring a greater experience. In that case, accommodations would be shared between 3 o 4 participants, and no private bathroom would be available. Anyway, it will depend on the Covid-19 pandemic, and we would tell all customers in advance, before confirming this accommodation.

If you come with another person to the trip, you’ll share the room, However, if you are traveling alone, we’ll choose a roommate for you between the other participants in the trip (always same genre). Anyway, you will also have the chance to choose a single room for you, paying an extra supplement. Contact us for all details.
