This Vietnam Photo Tour focuses on landscape, architectural, and portrait photography.
We will start with the urban and architectural views of the dynamic city of Ho Chi Minh, as well as the sunrise and everyday life along the Saigon River and in the Mekong Delta.
Vietnamese traditions will occupy a large part of our itinerary: traditional fishermen and craftsmen in their natural environments, showing their techniques and lifestyles, farmers in the salt fields of Hon Khoi, fishermen trap artisans or incense stick makers.
Portraits of local elders and other interesting characters, as well as models in traditional Vietnamese costumes will be part of our photographic reports.
Landscapes such as the ancient Ke Ga lighthouse, the Mu Cang Chai rice terraces, or the Long Coc tea plantation hills will not be missed.

Our Vietnam Photo Tour is an easy-level trip, suitable for practically anyone, as long as they are accustomed to performing walks of not very long duration. It is a trip suitable for any photographic level, as well as for most physical levels and ages, so anyone interested in photography will be able to enjoy and make the most of it during the same.
Starting with the physical level, no special fitness level is needed to make the trip. Simply being used to short or medium, easy-level walks is enough. Even so, many of the locations we are going to photograph will be easily accessible, being next to the places where we park our vehicles. In summary, as long as you have a reasonably good physical and health condition, you will be able to participate in the trip.
Likewise, there is no age limit, anyone can join the trip, regardless of their age, as long as their health condition is reasonably good.
Regarding the photographic level, it is not necessary to have a minimum photographic level or previous photographic experience. Our Vietnam Photo Tour will start in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), either at Tan Son Nhat airport, or at the hotel where we will stay the first night. After introductions, we will leave some optional rest time, allowing us to gather strength after the long journey. Depending on the flight schedules, we will take a tour around Ho Chi Minh City, which will allow us to capture some corners of the city as well as take some social and urban photography. After dining at a local restaurant, we will head to the hotel to rest.
Today, we will get up early to capture our first sunrise of this Vietnam Photo Tour on the Saigon River. After finishing the session, it’s time for breakfast to continue our route towards Chau Doc, a town bordering Cambodia on the Mekong River delta.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we will have a photo session with fishermen on the Mekong River.
Today we will capture a fantastic sunrise with the stylized silhouettes of palm trees within a rice field in Chau Doc, where we will look for different angles for our compositions of this beautiful environment. After sunrise, we will go for breakfast to regain strength and head to a photo session of a bull race, where we will obtain spectacular images of this traditional festival of Chau Doc.
Then, we will have another photo session, this time of a Khmer monk in a pagoda.
We will have lunch at a local restaurant before heading to our next photo destination in Vietnam, Moc Hoa, which we will reach in approximately 4 hours. There, we will dine at a local restaurant before going to our hotel.
Early in the morning we will head by boat to the location of our photo session of the water lily flower in Moc Hoa, which have large and colorful lotus flowers. We will spend the morning being able to make compositions with these flowers and obtain photographs of the local farmers, after which, we will go for breakfast.
After breakfast, we look forward to a 6-hour journey to Ke Ga, where we will capture fantastic photographs of its spectacular lighthouse, which dates back to the time when Vietnam was under French colonization. Built in 1899, it is located on a rock islet about 300 meters off the coast, from where we will look for different compositions with the rocks in the foreground.
After dinner at a local restaurant, we will head to our hotel in Ke Ga.
Today, we will repeat the location of the previous day, the Ke Ga lighthouse, this time taking advantage of the soft lights provided by the sunrise.
After breakfast, we will head to Phan Rang, which is about a 4-hour drive away. We will arrive at our destination in time for lunch, which again will be at a local restaurant, and after which we will continue with a portrait photography session of the local elders.
To end the day, we will take advantage of the sunset lights on the Nam Cuong sand dunes, where we can include the human factor to create fantastic compositions with people from the Cham ethnic minority walking through these dunes.
Once the photo session is concluded, we will dine at a local restaurant and then head to our hotel in Phan Rang.
We will start the day photographing a wonderful sunrise in a seascape at Nui Chua National Park. It will be a good time to practice long exposures to achieve spectacular images of the sea gliding between the rocks.
After breakfast, we will head to the pottery village of Ninh Thuận for a photo session to capture the traditional pottery art of the Chăm people, which was inscribed in 2022 on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
We will have lunch at a local restaurant and then proceed to a photo session with women traditionally weaving fishing nets, capturing the striking shapes formed by the nets.
We will end the day at our hotel in the Doc Let area after dinner at a local restaurant.
We will revisit the location of the salt fields of Hon Khoi in Doc Let, this time at sunrise. Given the possibilities of the place, it will allow us to find new compositions of this wonderful environment.
Once we have had breakfast, we will continue towards the province of Phu Yen. In the afternoon, we will be able to photograph the craft village where farmers work with “sleeping grass” by dividing them into fine fibers, painting them, and then drying them in the sun for several days before making mats or carpets.
After finishing, we will move to the O Loan lagoon, where we can photograph this seascape with its traditional boats.
This sunrise, we will move to some extraordinary unique geological formations. These are the hexagonal basalt columns located at Da Dia Reef.
After breakfast, we will move to Hoian, where we will focus on touring and photographing its oldest part. We will also have our sunset photo session here.
After dinner at a local restaurant, we will rest at our hotel.
Today, we will get up early to move by boat to the chosen location for a photo session of the fishermen with their traditional and striking fishing nets.
After breakfast, we will continue with a social photography session in Hoian with local elders. And finally, after lunch, we will also have a photo session including a woman wearing a traditional Vietnamese dress as a model in Ao Dai.
We will start the day by moving directly to the city of Hue. Here, we can photograph the historic mausoleum of Tu Duc, the imperial tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, built between 1864 and 1867, is one of the most famous imperial tombs in Hue.
After lunch, we will have another photo session with the fishermen of Hue. Next, we will enjoy another session with a model releasing a red floating paper lantern from a boat in Ao Dai.
Today the distance separating us from our next destination is much greater, so we will start the day with an internal flight to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
Once in Hanoi, and after lunch, we will dedicate the day to photograph two craft villages. In the first one, they make fishing traps by weaving bamboo and other materials, a practice that is disappearing, but some elders in the area still maintain it.
Next, we will move to have a photo session while exploring the traditional making of incense sticks, where we can capture striking images of this colorful place, integrating the human figure in it.
We will end the day with dinner at a local restaurant and at our hotel in Hanoi.
Today begins with a quite long trip to Mu Cang Chai, in the mountainous province of Yen Bai, however, it will be worth it. It is one of those indispensable places if visiting Vietnam, as it may have the most impressive rice field landscapes in Vietnam.
In the afternoon, after lunch, we will photograph the rice field from the Khau Pha Pass, which is situated at an altitude of 1,200 m, revealing to us some astounding panoramic views of the rice fields.
Dinner and lodging today will be in a homestay with local people in Mu Cang Chai.
Early in the morning, we will move on a moto-taxi to the location chosen for sunrise on one of the many rice terraces of Mu Cang Chai, where we will capture this fantastic landscape with the best light. We will stay in this place as long as necessary before going to have breakfast.
We will have lunch at a homestay with people from an ethnic minority in the area.
We will move again on a moto-taxi to photograph the sunset on another of the rice terraces of Mu Cang Chai.
Dinner and lodging will once again be at a homestay with local people in Mu Cang Chai.
Today we will have to move to Long Coc after breakfast. In this place, we can photograph the spectacular tea plantation hills of Long Coc, including the human figure of the local farmers in our compositions. We will enjoy the sunset in this place until dinner time, which we will have in a homestay from an ethnic minority in the area.
This day we will have the option to stay in a very basic accommodation in Long Coc, which would allow us to photograph the sunrise in the tea plantation hills, or return to Hanoi to depart on our flight the following day.
Depending on the hours of our flights, we will be able to enjoy some free time in Hanoi to take our last photographs on this Vietnam Photo Tour.

This Vietnam Photo Tour is recommended for any person, no matter the age or the physical level to join the trip. As long as you are able to walk for a short five minute hike with no difficulty, you are welcome to come with us. Most of the photo locations are located just a short walk from the places where we’ll park, meaning this will be an easy trip. We’ll just a longer hike, but it will be optional (however, it’s not mandatory).
At the same time, there isn’t age limits for the tour, as well as your health and conditions are reasonably good.
There is no need of a minimal photography level to join this Vietnam Photo Tour. You don’t need to be a professional photographer to come to this trip, nor even having a lot of experience with your camera. All our photo tours are open to all levels, even for beginners, or unexperienced photography users. Sometimes, we even have people just taking shots with their smartphones.
One of our highlights is providing customized attention, so we will help you to get the best possible images, regardless your previous level. We’ll be there to help you becoming a better photographer!
During this Vietnam Photo Tour in August and September, we can expect hot and humid conditions throughout the day, with a high likelihood of afternoon and evening rain showers.
Therefore, it is essential to be properly prepared for the trip. We recommend wearing light and breathable clothing to stay comfortable in the heat and humidity. It’s also wise to include a lightweight, waterproof rain jacket for the frequent rain showers. Comfortable walking shoes that can handle wet conditions are advisable, as well as a hat and sunglasses for sun protection. Once you confirm your booking, you will receive a guide with the recommended gear list for this Vietnam Photo Tour.
Our Vietnam Photo Tour includes meals (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). Typically, we head out for breakfast at the hotel or nearby cafés, after the sunrise session, depending on how long the good light lasts. Lunches will be at local restaurants, allowing us to enjoy traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Finally, in the evenings, we will have dinner at local restaurants or at the homestays of the local ethnic minorities, depending on the itinerary.
Currently, the main payment option we have is the bank transfer. However, if you prefer it, we also have other payment options, such as credit or debit card, PayPal or Transferwise. During this Vietnam Photo Tour, we’ll be normally staying in 3 or 4 star hotel. Each traveller will be staying in a double twin shared room, shared with another participant of the tour. Rooms will always include a private bath. However, it’s possible that, for our night in Mu Cang Chai, we stayed at a basic acommodation, so we can stay near the rice fields.
If you come with another person to the trip, you’ll share the room, However, if you are traveling alone, we’ll choose a roommate for you between the other participants in the trip (always same genre). Anyway, you will also have the chance to choose a single room for you, paying an extra supplement. Contact us for all details.
Anyone can join this Photographic Journey to Vietnam, regardless of the country they live in. Although our offices are located in Santander, Spain, our trips are open to participation from anywhere in the world, and we have clients from countries all over the globe. However, Spanish will always be the language used during the trip (occasionally alongside English).
Our Photographic Journey to Vietnam will begin at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Vietnam. All participants must be at this meeting point on the starting day of the trip, at a time we will determine, and will need to arrive from their place of origin. Therefore, you do not need to travel to any other city beforehand to meet up with the rest of the participants.

As a first tip, we would suggest you bringing a light color down or shell jacket (for example red, orange, yellow, light green, etc…). That jacket will protect you from the cold and the rain but, at the same time, you’ll look great when photographed in some of the most beautiful locations around Vietnam!
