Official Travel Agency in Europe
Our Galicia Photo Tour, in Northwestern Spain, from August 13th to the 19th, 2023 (more dates available soon), is one of our newest photo tours. During a week, we’ll be photographing many of this region’s most incredible sceneries. Along its impressive coastline, we’ll find wonderful cliffs, spectacular beaches and gorgeous rock formations. But, at the same time, we’ll visit precious forests, waterfalls and creeks. All these natural jewels will allow us to enjoy a fabulous experience.
By other hand, the tour will be guided by our professional photographers Sergio Lanza and/or Julio Castro. Julio, who designed the itinerary, is native to the area, so he knows perfectly all the best locations. This will allow us to visit the most amazing places and, at the same time, may others unknown for most people.
In many of the locations, we will have the chance to learn and/or practice long exposure photography. That’s the reason we advice to bring ND filters to this photo tour, since they will be really useful. We will be practicing filter techniques to get precious effects in our shots, depending on which shutter speed we use.
This Galicia Photo Tours is mainly focused in landscape and seascape photography. Therefore, we will visit a lot cliffs, beaches and rocky areas cose the sea. Be sure that we’ll have extraordinary photo opportunities in those places, no matter if the weather is calm, or if the waves are moving bravely.
Some of the most beautiful locations we will visit include beaches as Las Catedrales (or As Catedrais) Beach, or Campello Beach. Also, there will be really famous cliffs or rocky areas, such as Costa da Morte (translated as ‘The Dead Coast’, due to the power of the Atlantic Ocean in the area), or Loiba, world famous for featuring the ‘best’ bench in the world. But, at the same time, some of the main subjects we will be photographing are the spectacular lighthouses that we can find in the region, as Punta Nariga, Prior, or Ortegal Lighthouses, as well as the outstanding Virxe do Porto chapel.
As we always do during our photo tours, specially in those focused in landscape photography, we will pay special attention to sunrise and sunset. These are normally the best moments of light during each day. For this reason, we will try to enjoy them as much as possible, trying to get the best results in our pictures. However, we’ll keep taking pictures also during the rest of the day, apart from traveling between locations.
Finally, during the summer editions of this Galicia Photo Tour, we will have great chances to capture the Milky Way. Therefore, we’ll study the conditions each night, in order to do a night session in case the sky is clear. If we are lucky with the weather, we will be able to capture amazing Milky Way images, with amazing lighthouses or beaches in the foreground.
Joining this summer editions Galicia Photo Tour, you will enjoy from many hours of daylight, something that will allow us to visit more places, including forests and dark locations during the worst hours of light. At the same time, we usually get nice colors and skies during summer sunrises and sunset, so that’s a great reason to join us. Finally, as previously stated, it’s the best time of the year for night photography, and for capturing the Milky Way.
This Galicia Photo Tour is recommended for anyone, regardless their age, their photographic level or their physical condition (as long as you are able to walk short distances). If you like landscape photography and love to stay outdoors, while taking pictures or enjoying the views in Nature, we strongly recommend you this Galicia Photo Tour!
Given all these things, we can assure you this is a great opportunity to join a fantastic photo tour inside Northern Spain. There is no doubt that Galicia is one of the most beautiful areas in Spain, as well as a truly paradise for photography lovers.
The tour is organized by our own official travel agency for photography lovers, with more than 40 photo tours and 5 years of experience, and guided by professional photographers as our tour leaders.
Now, you have a fantastic choice to join us this incredible Galicia Photo Tour. Don’t miss the opportunity and book your spot now, seats are limited to 12 participants!
This Galicia Photo Tour begins with the meeting of the group in La Coruña Airport, by early afternoon. From here, we’ll move to the first destination of the trip, in the area known as Ferrolterra. Here, we’ll be able to photograph the beautiful Narahío Castle, as well as the same named falls.
Afterwards, we will drive until the area where we’ll enjoy our sunset session, by the iconic Virxe do Porto Chapel. This precious location, on top of a rock, gets totally surrounded by the sea during the highest tides. However, it also brings amazing photo opportunities during low or middle tides. Probably, this is one of the most famous and photographed locations in all Galicia, and we can assure you that you’ll love it!
Finally, we will get to our accommodation, near Ferrol. However, if there are chances of clear skies, we will enjoy a night photography in the area, maybe in the Punta Frouxeria Lighthouse area.
Today, we’ll get to Campelo Beach for sunrise. This beach is quite famous due to its rounded stones, which will bring us fabulous photo opportunities while the first rays of light get to the area. We will search for different compositions and play with the shutter speed, while the waves get to the shoreline and crash against the stones.
Later, we will continue our itinerary, visiting some of the most impressive lighthouses around the region. First of all, we’ll get to Prior Lighthouse, which is located at an incredible area, surrounded by spectacular cliffs and unbelievable views. We will get some spectacular shots from here, before leaving the area to drive to our next destination, the A Capelada cliffs. These are some of the highest cliffs all around Europe, up to 610 meters / 2,000 feet high. There are many viewpoints in the area, so we’ll capture the great views of the surroundings.
Our following stop will be by another of the most impressive lighthouses around all Galicia, in Cabo Ortegal. Again, we will find ourselves in front of a beautiful lighthouse, and surrounded by spectacular cliffs, in a gorgeous setting. Here is the area where the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrico Sea meet.
Finally, we will get to the area where we will photograph the last lights of the day, the Loiba Cliffs. This is another of the most famous areas in all Galicia and, for sunset, we’ll place next to a beaufiful bench, known as the ‘best’ bench in the wold. From this location, we’ll enjoy the views of the ocean and the fantastic cliffs around us. Given the nature of the location, it will be perfect to practice some panoramic photography.
After this complete day of photography, we will drive to our accommodation.
On this day, we will visit the nearby Poza da Ferida waterfall for sunrise. This impressive waterfall, located in the middle of a beautiful forest, is 30 meter/100 feet high. We will have a lot of photo opportunities in the area, focusing in the falls, the creek that comes from it, as well as the forest.
After that, we will drive to our following destination, Ribadeo. This village is just at the border between Galicia in Asturias, surrounded by the sea and some incredible sceneries. Once there, we will visit the most famous location in the area: Las Catedrales Beach. This is one of the most beautiful locations all around Galicia, and world famous.
We will spend the rest of the day in the surroundings. First of all, we will visit the cliffs near Las Catedrales, where we will have great opportunities for long exposure and seascape photography. We might probably be able to photograph some cormorants that live in the area. After this, we will get closer to the beach, even getting down to the sand, depending on the tides.
Finally, we will capture the sunset from one of the cliffs that surround the beach. From there, we will have an spectacular view of the beach, the cliffs, and the sun setting in the background. We will also have an amazing rocky island in front of us, with a natural arch on its base.
Depending on weather, we might end the day doing a night session from the beach, trying to capture the Milky Way over us.
Today, we’ll wake up early to photograph one of the other famous attractions by Ribadeo, the Isla Pancha Lighthouse. We’ll get there for sunrise, to capture the first rays of light of the day. If lucky, we could get some beautiful colors, with the amazing lighthouse in the foreground of our compositions.
Besides the lighthouse, we will enjoy from countless photo opportunities in the area. This is another great spot to practice long exposure photography, with the help of ND filters.
After breakfast, we will drive back to the West, visiting another incredible area, As Fervenzas da Rexidoira. These fabulous waterfalls, inside a magical forest, will bring us endless opportunities to take great images. Therefore, we will spend two or three hours in the area, in order to guarantee time enough to get those results.
Following this, we will keep our way to Punta Nariga, in the Costa da Morte area. This is the location where we will enjoy our sunset session for the day, capturing the sunset with an impressive lighthouse in the foreground. This is probably the most beautiful and photogenic lighthouse in Galicia, and one of the most photographed in all Spain and Europe. There are incredible rock formations in the surroundings, so we will have enough time to explore it before sunset.
Once the sun is gone, we will study the possibility of staying in the area for night photography, if the sky is clear. If we are lucky, we will be able to photograph the Milky Way over the lighthouse, getting one of the most amazing views of the whole trip.
We will head to As Torradas Beach for today’s sunrise session. This beautiful beach, has a long shoreline, in which we will have lots of stones and rock formations to photograph. Once again, this will be a perfect moment for long exposure photography, playing with ND filters to get different effects from the movement of the waves.
Afterwards, we will keep visiting the Costa da Morte, doing several stops to take pictures in the area. Some of these stops will include Reira and Balea beaches.
For sunset, we will visit another spectacular lighthouse, in Cabo Vilán. Again, we will be in an incredible setting, full or wonderful cliffs, with the sun setting in front of us. Once the night has come, we’ll head to our accommodation to rest after another long day.
Today we’ll go to Finisterre for sunrise, where we’ll have the chance to capture the beautiful lighthouse and area. This is a mythical location, formerly known as Finis Terrae (literally ‘End of the Earth’), where the supposed limit of the Earth was located. Even now, it’s a really famous place, and a top destination for pilgrims, due to its enchant and endless beauty.
Next to this visit, we’ll drive to Ézaro Falls, an impressive waterfall which falls to the sea. Afterwards, we will photograph one of the biggest ‘hórreos’ in the world, in Carnota. These constructions, built on masonry pilasters and with a slate roof, were used to store and preserve food such as maize.
After that, we will also photograph the nearby Lariño Lighthouse, surrounded by a beautiful rocky coast, where we will search for water ponds, to capture the reflections on it. There are also some beautiful sand dunes in thea area, which will bring us some nice photo opportunities.
For the evening, we will visit the Costa da Vela area, in front of Vigo. This is another spectacular natural setting, in which we will be able to photograph two more lighthouses, known as Home and Punta Robaleira. Home Lighthouse will be our sunset location for today, with spectacular rock formations to compose our images. However, we will stay in the area after the session if the sky is clear, in order to enjoy the last night photography opportunity during the trip.
For the last day of the trip, we will visit the impressive Castro Baroña, an old Celtic fortress settlement. Located by the ocean, we’ll get an idea of the impressive fortress from the Iron Age.
Before heading to the famous Hercules Tower, in La Coruña, we’ll visit Santa Cruz Castle, built on a beautiful island. After the visit, we’ll get to the beautiful area around the Hercules Tower lighthouse. We’ll have plenty of opportunities in the surroundings, so we’ll stay here until sunset.
We will end doing some blue hour photography with the lighthouse in the background, for the end of this Galicia Photo Tour. Afterwards, we will take the participants to the airport or to their accommodation for this night (not included in the trip).

La Coruña Airport, Galicia, Spain (Google Maps)
We recommend you to bring a DSLR or Mirrorless system camera with interchangeable lenses, but you can join the photo tour bringing any kind of camera, including compact ones, or even a smartphone.
A wide angle lens will be really useful to capture the beaches, waterfalls and rocky formations in Galicia. It’s also interesting that it’s a fast lens (f/2’8 or faster), for the night photography sessions.
An standard zoom, like a 24-70mm, or a 24-105mm, will be probably the most important lens for a trip like this. With that focal length range, you will be able to capture a great variety of the scenes we’ll find.
If you already own a lens like a 70-200mm, and you don’t care about the weight or the space, we recommend you bringing it to the trip. It might be useful to capture some distant sceneries.
These kind of lenses are not really needed, but if you already have them, a lens like a 14mm 1’8 or a 20mm 1’4 would be perfect for our night photography sessions.
A tripod will be needed for our low light photography sessions, such as the sunrise, sunset and night photography ones. We recommend you bringing a really sturdy one, so it’s not easily moved by the wind.
We recommend you bringing ND filters for long exposure photography, as well as graduated ND filter for sunrises and sunsets. A polarizer filter will be very useful too, to add saturation or avoid reflections.
Bringing a remote or an intervalometer will be a great idea, because they will be very useful in low light sessions, avoiding the need to touch the camera, and therefore minimizing the risk of moved images.
This Galicia Photo Tour is recommended for any person, no matter the physical level to join the trip. As long as you are able to walk for a short hike with no difficulty, you are welcome to come with us. Most of the photo locations are located just a short walk from the places where we’ll park, meaning this will be an easy trip. At the same time, there isn’t age limits for the tour, as well as your health and conditions are reasonably good.
There is no need of a minimal photography level to join this photo tour. You don’t have to be a professional photographer to come to this trip, nor even having a lot of experience with your camera. All our photo tours are open to all levels, even for beginners, or unexperienced photography users. Sometimes, we even have people just taking shots with their smartphones. One of our highlights is providing customized attention, so we will help you to get the best possible images, regardless your previous level. We’ll be there to help you becoming a better photographer!
During the summer edition of our Galicia Photo Tour, we can expect quite warm temperatures most of the time. However, take into account that many of our sessions are held at sunrise, sunset or during the night, and temperatures will be much cooler then. For this reason, you should be bringing a light jacket like a fleece or a softshell one. For most of the time, we recommend you wearing light and fresh clothes, like summer mountain clothes, easy-drying t-shirts and light trousers. At the same time, a Gore Tex jacket or similar could be also useful, in case of rain. Mountain boots would be perfect for most of the time. Once you confirm your booking, you will also receive a guide withe the recommended gear list for this Galicia Photo Tour.
This Galicia Photo Tour, as most of our trips, don’t include meals (breakfast, lunch or dinner). This will give us maximum flexibility during the trip, in order to focus mainly in the most important thing: photography. Normally, we will be having breakfast in the hotel or in cafes near the area, before or after our sunrise shooting session (depending on timing). For lunch, sometimes we’ll be stopping at restaurants, but other times we’ll be going to a supermarket and doing a picnic near to the locations we’ll visit. Then, we will have dinner at the hotel or in town.
However, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the incredible food we’ll find in Galicia, specially its amazing fish and seafood!
Currently, the main payment option we have is the bank transfer. However, if you prefer it, we also have other payment options, such as credit or debit card, PayPal or Transferwise. Please notice that these other payment options may apply a commission fee. You can ask us about these different payment options.
If you choose to pay by credit or debit card, or by PayPal, you can process your payment online, when you finish the booking process. For bank transfer payment, you just have to proceed with the booking and then, once you finish the process with the chosen payment method, you’ll receive an email with al the instructions and bank details.
During this Galicia Photo Tour, we’ll be normally staying at 3 or 4 stars hotel. Each traveller will be staying in a double twin shared room, staying with another participant of the tour. Rooms will always include a private bath.
If you come with another person to the trip, you’ll share the room, However, if you are traveling alone, we’ll choose a roommate for you between the other participants in the trip (always same genre). Anyway, you will also have the chance to choose a single room for you, paying an extra supplement. Contact us for all details.
Anyone can join this Galicia Photo Tour, no matter your country of residence. Our main travel agency is settled in Santander, Spain, but our trips are open to customers from countries all around the world. Therefore, we may have clients from different places in our photo tours.
This Galicia Photo Tour, as all our tours, begins in a city in the destination country, (normally we meet up at the airport). Therefore, all the participants need to get there for the first day of the tour, traveling from their country of residence, and there is no need of traveling to a particular town to fly together.
Once you have confirmed your booking for this Galicia Photo Tour, we will send you the trip info with a recommended gear PDF guide. This will include suggestions not only about the photography gear, but also about the clothes and accessories you might need during this photo tour. To sum up, you won’t have to worry about anything, since our expert photo leaders and guides will inform you about everything you will need, so you can enjoy your travel as much as possible!
As a first tip, we would suggest you bringing a light color jacket for sunrises and sunsets (for example red, orange, yellow, light green, etc…). That jacket will protect you from the cold but, at the same time, you’ll look great to be photographed in some of the most beautiful locations around all Galicia!
‘Totally recommended photo trip, with a complete itinerary and great locations. Very well organized too. Furthermore, the great selection of hotels is very appreciated as well. However, the best thing is Sergio’s work and attention during the trip, as well as Julio’s, on the days he joined us. They always showed extraordinary kindness, service, and constantly helping each participant in everything they needed to get their pictures. I am sure I will keep traveling again with Dream Photo Expeditions. From a 1 to 5 scale, I would give the, 5 points.’
‘Galicia 2020 has been my second photo tour with Sergio Lanza and Dream Photo Expeditions, after Ladakh, India, the previous year. In both trips, Sergio has proven to be a great professional, as well as an excellent human being. Great photographer, tireless when it’s time to get our for taking pictures, and always helping each one of us to get pictures and feel happy. His photo tours are totally recommended experiences to discover magnificent places, while you learn photography and enjoy shooting in very good company.’
‘From my last summer Galicia Photo Tour, guided by Sergio Lanza and Julio Castro, and with the added difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I would like to highlight the great treatment from the first time I send an info request, as well as during all the time previous to the trip, always helpful despite the different challenges that the pandemic was brining, which several times ended up making me think I would not be able to participate. They always transmitted a trustful and responsible feeling.
Then, during the trip, they worked extremely hard, being close and kind to us, both in the photography and the personal aspects. A very exciting trip, focused in the photographic activity, working in a huge number of locations, and treating several photography genres, aspects and techniques, with a notable personal production as a result of this intense workshop.
However, then, even after the trip, the contact keeps frequent, helping with edition videos, pictures from the trip, or gear questions. Traveling with them, you get a ‘family feeling’, and their work makes a before/after moment in your photography production. Thanks so much dear friends, and long life to Dream Photo Expeditions.’
‘Sharing some days with Sergio Lanza and Julio Castro around the beautiful Galicia landscapes was a real luxury. Great professionals and better people, with a very close treatment and a fantastic sense of humors.
See you soon in the next trip!’
‘My first experience with Dream Photo Expeditions totally overpassed my expectations. I have enjoyed a fabulous week together with two great professionals and visiting wonderful locations that I didn’t know existed. I have already book my next photo tour with them for November.’
